Local author, Sybil Reisch, will be visiting Lift Bridge Book Shop to sign copies of her book, Journey With Jeff. Copies of her book will be available for purchase and she will be happy to sign copies. The event is free and open to the public. Below is a bit about the book...

When Jeffrey Reisch was diagnosed with Down syndrome, his parents
stumbled, but never lost their faith that God had chosen Jeffrey to
spread His love and His word. Journey with Jeff: Inspiration for
Caregivers of People with Special Needs by educator, author, and
caregiver Sybil Y. Reisch speaks frankly of the heartache in equal
measures of the joyful surprises of her twenty-seven year journey with
her son. Along with her family and growing community support, she shares
a poignant message of sorrow and celebration for caregivers and
families of children and adults with special needs.

We've become a culture obsessed by reality TV and perhaps have
sacrificed some realities of the heart. When you read Journey with Jeff,
those heart realities suddenly become very real. With humor, insight,
pathos and joy, a mother speaks of what at one time was unspeakable.
By the time you finish reading this journey, you'll pause to marvel how
those we seek to help, do so much more to actually help us. The
realities of raising a child with developmental disabilities, blaming
neither fate, nor circumstances, nor God, reveals the heart of love in
parenting but even more important, reveals the heart of love within
their son. Their journey speaks to the affirming hope all parents can
discover despite the variety of challenges at their door. It's a
journey and story of faith whereby a bitter reality becomes a better

As an author of the You Are Not Alone book series, I came across this
precious book. It was an inspiring story of a family who shared their
walk with Jeff, and how he impacted their lives and many others. It was
honest and hope-giving.

Also journalist/editor Nancy E. Lynch will give a 20 minute talk about the book she edited Vietnam Mailbag Voices From The War 1968-1972. All those who have questions concerning computers are encouraged to attend Reg Prior's computer workshop here at Lift Bridge Book Shop on May 20th (Sunday) starting at 2PM. Reg will be focusing on computer tablet maintenance. He has many years of computer experience and has written half a dozen books on various computer topics. The seminar is free and Reg will have his computer screen on a projection screen so everyone can follow what he is explaining. He has been here before and offers a very accessible and informative workshop presentation. Journalist and Editor Nancy E Lynch to visit Lift Bridge to discuss the collectiion of Vietnam letters in the book Vietnam Mailbag

Nancy E. Lynch, editor and journalist, will be visiting Lift Bridge Book Shop to talk about the book she edited, Vietnam Mailbag. As a journalist during the Vietnam War, she collected nearly 900 letters from soldiers serving in Vietnam. Recently she has published these letters in the book Vietnam Mailbag. Books available for purchase. Nancy will be available to sign copies of her book. Following her talk will be the May History Book Club discussion of the Vietnam War. Both events are free and open to the public.
